Hawaii State Board of Cosmetology License Information
In order to obtain a license in cosmetology, nail technology, hairdressing, esthetics, or barbering in the state of Hawaii, students must complete the requirements listed below. Please contact the Hawaii Board of Barbering & Cosmetology for more information.
Requirements
COSMETOLOGIST: 1800 Hours, apprenticeship 3600 hours
BARBERING: 1500 hours
HAIRDRESSER: 1250 Hours, apprenticeship 2500 hours
ESTHETICIAN: 600 Hours, apprenticeship 1100 hours
NAIL TECHNICIAN: 350 Hours, apprenticeship 700 hours
There is NO reciprocity. Everyone is required to take a WRITTEN (only) exam.
