Skin Care Tips for Women with Normal to Dry Skin

July 20th, 2009

Normal to dry skin is generally indicated by a complexion that is clean and clear. However, because the skin is thinner than oily skin, it does require special attention to maintain beautiful skin throughout your life. Are you willing to spend the time and effort to be rewarded with a younger and softer complexion long into the future?

Women with either normal to dry skin should choose a cleanser that cleanses and refreshes and increases skin hydration. Choose fragrance-free products to prevent sensitivities and allergic reactions. If the skin is thin and is quite dry use very, gentle upward and outward motions to apply and remove the cleanser. Your skin should feel clean and moist after removing your makeup.

Save time by using a three-in-one cleanser. In addition to cleansing, these products contain exfoliant beads to slough off dead skin cells and botanicals that tone and brighten the skin. Fast and effective, these products are great for women who have very little time to spend on their daily, personal routine. Some of these products also contain vitamins that will also provide anti-aging benefits.

Photo-aging is especially prevalent with fairer skins. Use a facial sunscreen with at least an SPF 25 that is targeted to block damaging UV rays. Some of these anti-aging treatment products also contain pentapeptides, fruit acids or vitamins. The benefit to you is anti-aging and sun protection in one step. Dry to normal skin ages more quickly than oily skin so using a sun screen is an important step in maintaining smooth, wrinkle free skin.

Good hydration prevents moisture loss and fine lines. Dry to normal skins benefit from oil-free day and night creams that are needed to provide moisturization and maintain soft, supple, beautiful skin. If the skin is very dry, you may want to use an intense moisturizer at night with vitamins and humectants that attract moisture and increase hydration. Often these products will maintain the increased moisturization for up to 10 hours.

Microdermabrasion sets to brighten the skin are an effective addition to a dry to normal skin care routine. They work by sloughing off the dry, surface skin cells and allow the luminous, newer skin cells to take their place. Other products you use to hydrate the surface layer of the skin more will now be absorbed more effectively. A two part microdermabrasion set that includes a replenishing step with antioxidants will leaves dry to normal skin feeling soothed and smooth immediately

If fine lines become apparent around the eyes you may wish to add an eye cream to your skin care regime. These creams are generally much richer that a daily moisturizer and are to be used only on the area around the eyes where crows feet generally appear. In some cases they can also double as a throat cream.

Younger women with fine lines should maybe consider evaluating the cleanser they are using. Harsh cleansers or soaps can dehydrate the skin. Switch to a gentler cleanser and check your progress to see if that alleviates the problem.

Consistency is the most important ingredient to any skin care regime. Cleanse and moisturize day and night. Use a microdermabrasion set up to two times a week. Protect your skin daily with an anti-aging sunscreen. It takes less than 3 minutes a day to be rewarded with beautiful, glowing skin that can be maintained for many years to come.
